Felt Toys/Creatures
Rachel Olin, who is exhibiting in our show Black Sheep, gives an exciting insight into her craft. Using wet felting techniques and resists, these three-hour family workshops will teach you how to design and make an almost seamless felt toy to stuff and decorate. Wool fibres and embroidery thread will be provided. Participants are invited to bring along any additional decorations they would like to use, for example ribbons or buttons.

The park, which is set in 500 acres on the Bretton Estate, is a centre of international importance for the production, exhibition and appreciation of modern and contemporary sculpture. It includes four gallery spaces, a contemporary shop, restaurant and café.

Life Drawing
Join artist Phil Bowman as he leads his series of life drawing classes this season. As an essential ingredient in developing skills of observation and drawing these sessions are perfect for beginners and practiced artists alike. Models will vary each session and a range of materials will be available for use. If you would like to use something specific please bring along your own supplies to avoid disappointment. A limited number of easels are available for use.

Little ones under 5 love our fun craft and design sessions run by early years’ practitioner and professional glass artist Emma Mayle. Each month they explore one of our inspiring exhibitions, followed by lots of messy and creative play. Each child will always have a ‘make’ to take home, no matter how experimental they’ve been! Please note parents/carers are required to stay to supervise the children throughout the session. Free tea and coffee and juice is provided.

Art in Action visit
Design Factory Thrive
Join us for an inspiring research and development day trip to Art in Action, taking place at Waterperry House & Gardens in Oxfordshire. Art in Action welcomes approximately 25,000 people over four days. Visitors come to learn, buy and enjoy the exhibitions, classes and performances of 400 demonstrating artists, designer makers, teachers, musicians and performers. Disciplines represented include painting, sculpture, glass, woodwork, textiles, ceramics, metalwork and jewellery. The coach will leave the NCCD at 7am with pick up points in Newark and Leicester en route. It will leave Waterperry at 6pm.

People searching for "things" on the internet often use YouTube as their first point of search. So much so that YouTube is actually the second largest search site behind Google. This workshop takes place at the Portfolio Innovation Centre, Northampton This popular workshop will explore different ways of planning ahead, and will help you decide whether a formal business plan is right for you, or whether a more creative and flexible approach to planning will work best. You will get a workpack which will help you devise a personal approach to planning that really suits you and your creative practice. The workshop is designed for people at all career stages – the thinking and discussion will work for you regardless of whether you are a start up or a mature business. You will be encouraged to think both strategically and tactically – where do you want to be in 3-5 years – and what actions do you need to start taking now in order to get there? You will come away with a much clearer idea of where you are heading, a personal action plan with clear goals and milestones, and a visual timeline. Facilitator: Pete Mosley
