Have you got an object that tells a story?

Inspired by the enthusiastic response to a 2010 exhibition which touched upon the notion of collecting, this gallery began an investigation into .objects. - what do they mean to us, what is their value and what do objects represent? Your feedback, which told of the emotional attachment we make to objects and the stories these objects often can tell, went on to inspire a new exhibition for which we now require your input and contribution!

Ever wanted to be part of one of our exhibitions? Well here is your chance, as our main gallery is transformed into .The Museum of Broken Relationships. this January. We are now seeking contributions to be shown in this exhibition in the form of random ephemera that relate to, or represent, the end of a .relationship.. Interpret as you wish!

We envisage the objects will be of little or no worth in the traditional sense . but it is the status the item has accrued because of who it relates to and what it represents, that we are interested in. Humour, sadness, nostalgia, anger, affection . whatever emotion the possession provokes, we would like to hear this accompanying story - so please send these in with the item. Donations can be anonymous and will be treated confidentially.

Originally developed in Croatia by curators Olinka Vi.tica and Dra.en Grubi.ić, the exhibition has already toured internationally and amassed an amazing collection along the way. These existing items speak of the personal experience, local culture and history of the countries the items have come from. The National Centre for Craft & Design and the exhibition curators are extremely enthusiastic that contributions from Britain, and the in particular, the East Midlands, also join the show.
